TEAK FOREST OF GONDANG || Hutan Jati
The Gondang teak forest is home to Dendrobium capra, a rare and endemic orchid species that can only be found in mature teak trees that are over 50 years old. According to the IUCN (2020), this orchid species is classified as endangered. Teak (Tectona grandis) is the dominant vegetation in many areas of Bojonegoro Regency. The forest, managed by Perhutani (the state forestry company), serves as an ecological fortress, playing a vital role in regulating the hydrological cycle, preventing erosion, maintaining air quality, and providing habitat for various flora and fauna. By integrating ecological, cultural, and economic aspects, the Gondang teak forest exemplifies how production forests can fulfill dual roles: serving as centers for biodiversity conservation, and as sustainable tourism destinations
Jati (Tectona grandis) merupakan vegetasi yang mendominasi sebagian besar wilayah hutan yang ada di Kabupaten Bojonegoro dan dikelola di bawah kewenangan Perhutani. Kawasan ini berfungsi sebagai benteng ekologi dengan peran penting menjaga siklus hidrologi, mencegah erosi, mendukung kualitas udara, dan habitat bagi berbagai jenis flora dan fauna. Keunikan utama kawasan ini adalah keberadaan anggrek langka Dendrobium capra , spesies yang hanya ditemukan di pohon jati tua (berusia >50 tahun), seperti yang ditemukan di Hutan Jati Gondang Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Spesies anggrek ini tercatat berstatus genting ( Endangered (EN) ) menurut IUCN. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa kawasan Hutan Jati Bojonegoro menyimpan kekayaan hayati langka dan menjadi indikator penting ekosistem yang masih terjaga. Keberadaan spesies ini meningkatkan nilai konservasi kawasan, sekaligus membuka peluang penelitian, pendidikan, dan pengembangan ekowisata berbasis edukasi. Dengan kombinasi nilai ekologis, budaya, dan ekonomi, Hutan Jati Gondang menjadi contoh nyata bagaimana hutan produksi dapat berfungsi ganda sebagai pusat konservasi keanekaragaman hayati dan destinasi wisata berkelanjutan .
